Baystar President and Managing Director Diane Chamberlain is an experienced global business manager, who joined the Joint Venture in 2018, after a 27 year career in the refining and petrochemical industry. She has worked at Chevron, CPChem and Shell and has a strong operational background in ethylene and polyethylene, as well as extensive experience in supply chain, sales, business development, technical marketing and most recently in catalyst technology with CRI/Criterion, Shell’s catalyst company. Diane’s professional experience and enthusiasm is guiding Baystar to bring together the operational and safety excellence of TotalEnergies, the commercial excellence of Nova and new technology from Borealis to create a successful and sustainable business.
Baystar Commercial Director, Brad Leesman, brings over 30 years of experience in the polyolefins industry. With strong leadership skills in developing both international and domestic business, he takes a customer centric focus to forge long lasting partnerships. He has worked at Sasol NA, Osterman & Co., General Electric and LyondellBasell (formerly Quantum Chemical.) Brad’s responsibilities have included senior leadership roles in business development, technical sales and marketing, and product management. Having traveled to 40 countries throughout his career he offers a broad perspective and keen insight into today’s challenging business environment.
Brad joined the Baystar Leadership Team in 2021 and guides Baystar’s sales and marketing, procurement, customer service, supply chain, technical services and logistics for both olefins and polyethylene.
Baystar Finance & Business Services Director, Shauna Meyer, serves as the company’s chief financial and compliance officer. In this capacity, Shauna is responsible for all financial, human resources, information technology and legal management.
Shauna has over 25 years of experience including 10 years in the financial services industry with American General/AIG. Prior to joining Baystar, Shauna spent the past 15 years upstream in the drilling and services sector at Nabors Industries where she was responsible for oversight and leadership of the worldwide operational finance team. She managed both domestic and international teams responsible for financial reporting, budgeting, compliance, and decision support for all drilling and services organizations.
Shauna holds a Bachelor of Science degree in Business/Finance from Indiana University and a Master of Business Administration from Middle Tennessee State University. Her strong background in finance, budgeting, analytics, systems, and process management will help us to build a strong foundation for Baystar during this period of exciting growth.
Baystar Operations Director Jari Hatonen oversees the safe and efficient operation of Baystar assets. Jari is responsible for ensuring HSSE (Health Safety, Security & Environment), operating, maintenance and capital project standards are met for the Bay 1, Bay 2 and Bay 3 polyethylene units. He is also responsible for managing the HDA and Ethane Cracker Operating Agreements.
Jari has worked in the chemical manufacturing industry since 2006. He began his career as a Researcher in R&D with Borealis (one of Baystar’s parent companies). He worked in several roles with Borealis including: CAPX Investments Technology Development Manager and Borstar Production Manager at the Porvoo, Finland site. In 2018 Jari became the Production Manager for the Baystar Bay 3 Project and was named Baystar Operations Director in October, 2019. He earned Bachelor’s and Master’s Degrees in Electrical and Chemical Engineering from Helsinki University and a PhD in Applied Math from the University of Oulu in Finland.
Kinga Doris serves as Baystar General Counsel since February 2020. Kinga is responsible for Baystar’s legal, ethics and compliance matters. Kinga has over 25 years of experience advising global energy companies. Prior to joining Baystar, Kinga served as General Counsel and Joint Company Secretary of Liquefied Natural Gas Limited and Vice President and General Counsel of Pacific Drilling S.A. where she led the company through a NYSE initial public offering. Kinga started her career in Houston offices of international law firms. She earned her Bachelor’s (magna cum laude) and Doctor of Jurisprudence degrees from Texas Tech University.
